Visit the regional conference about the role of business incubators in providing new opportunities for employment among youth and development of small and medium sized businesses and entrepreneurship in the region. The research was a part of the project Business incubators- a successful model for creating a favorable environment for local and regional economic development. The main goal of the project is to raise public awareness about the role of business incubatorsfor the region and the economy of the country, by:
· Enhancing visibility of the business incubation model as an instrument for local and regional economic development
Stimulating self-employment among the youth in the local community as alternative approach for increasing employment and preventing brain drain
Recognizing the importance of academic institutions, business and public sector, local and central government participation in the creation of the business incubation model as significant instrument for economic development
Creating unified methodology for the level of entrepreneurship development that could be used as a benchmark for policy makers.
Are micro, small and medium enterprises from the Southeast Europe countries investment ready?
The research provides information about the level of current readiness of micro, small and medium enterprises in seven countries in Southeast Europe: Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo, for BA and VCF investment, and identifies the factors behind the (assumed) poor level of readiness, and to propose recommendations for improving the readiness of MSMEs in the target countries for BA and VCF investment.
The research should result in a comprehensive comparative report on investment readiness of MSMEs in 7 countries of Southeast Europe, with analysis of the situation at present, and recommendations for policy measures for promotion of equity investment.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus will take part in a conference in Russia during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Yunus has been lauded for his efforts to create economic and social development around the world. He is also on the board of directors of the United Nations Foundation. The topic of the conference will be the "Role of Microfinance in Overcoming the Financial-Economic Crisis" and will also feature a number of other leading experts in the field of microfinancing.
High school students join GEW 2009
Students from several high schools, schools of economics and vocational schools in Skopje will be directly involved in the Global entrepreneurship week 2009. Every student has the opportunity to participate in the Business idea contest, and express it idea in maximum 300 words. The ideas will be evaluated later on and the three best business ideas will be awarded with the certified training CISCO “Starting a business”. This will give them the opportunity to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and further on transform their idea into a well designed business plan. The winner ideas will be presented in the Multi business centre at Skopje Fair on November 20th 2009 on one of the sessions at GEW. All the participants will be invited to a group session, where the starting own business will be practically explained, the role of business incubator will be presented, and so as the preparation of the application for becoming a tenant-company in the business incubator.
